Cyndy Baran

About Me:

Cyndy has come late to her artistic self…but better late than never. Born on a small family farm in the Midwest, she expressed an early interest in art, but with no encouragement and few resources, Cyndy turned her energies to a budding career in business. After many years of climbing the corporate ladder, she decided to hang up the hectic, stressful lifestyle of the busy executive and find her creative voice.

“I have learned that the body intuitively knows what it needs and if you can be still and listen to that voice, it will guide you where you need to be at that particular point in your life,” says the Artist. Unfortunately, we often don’t give our voice the space it needs to be heard. Whether it is expressing an emotion with the clarity of a graphite pencil or experiencing the joy of loading vibrant color on a canvas, giving space to that voice is what I strive to do every day.”

About My Work:

My early experiences in Art School pushed me to explore the starkness of Graphite, which I now use to express the darker emotions of life: anger, sorrow, grief, and fear. But my joy is expressed in color. Observing the natural beauty of fields and farms, and watching the light play against the chaos of nature stirs a personal connection with our Earth that can only be described in color.

Simplifying the chaos of nature into color and form on a canvas has in many ways become a metaphor for my life. By simplifying the chaos in life, I can create a space for my voice to be heard, but it is a daily struggle.

Cyndy has studied Fine Art at Watkins College of Art&Design and Austin Peay State University. Recently, she has continued her studies with noted regional and national artists.
